10 Challenging Video Games That Are Endlessly Rewarding

6. Resident Evil 4

Monster Hunter
Capcom

The fourth instalment in the classic series represented a pivotal moment in the franchise in which conventional survival horror conventions were replaced by more action/adventure elements.

That said, the game was a masterpiece, perfectly blending the contradictory elements together in order to create a wonderful amalgam.

RE4 was certainly challenging, but not insurmountable. Gameplay was purposely restrictive – movement was uncooperative, and combat was unpredictable – requiring players to manage their resources and ammunition carefully. That said, the game never became unmanageable – each section requiring extreme concentration – avoiding frustration by regulating the pace of the action, allowing the player adequate room to breathe in between each encounter.

As a result, the game was endlessly rewarding, especially the mercenary’s mode – which gave players the chance to combat enemies in a contained arena, accumulating points based on accuracy. This particular mode was a particular highlight, providing adequate challenge and endless reward for players who could handle themselves effectively under pressure.
