10 Changes PS4 Needs To Keep Ahead In The Console War

10. Enhanced Controller Battery Life

Of all the complaints leveled at the Playstation 4, one of the earliest was at the much hyped new Dualshock 4 controller. Breaking away aesthetically from Sony's award winning design to accommodate a new touchpad and light bar, the controller was intended to be a great leap forwards for the system. Unfortunately this all came at the cost of the controller's lifespan, with battery life now clocking in at a grand total of three hours. While Sony eventually responded to this with a firmware update which dimmed the light to increase longevity, this has done little to satisfy many long-time Sony fans. From attempted Kickstarter projects for external battery packs to personal jury rigging, many Playstation owners are still attempting to improve the controller however they can. If Sony wants to truly take customer feedback into account, an alternative needs to be introduced to deal with this issue. Anything from a completely new battery system for an enhanced controller, to a second firmware update to switch off the light entirely, would go miles in terms of winning over customer loyalty. Better yet it would show that, much like Microsoft's recent back-pedalling and removal of the Kinect, they were willing to go the extra mile when it came to fixing unpopular hardware decisions for their buyers.
