10 Character Builds That BROKE RPGs
5. Blood Mage - Dragon Age: Origins
Blood Mage character builds in 2009's Dragon Age: Origins is all about pushing things right to the edge and maximising damage until it's borderline game-breaking.
Because so much of the Blood Mage build revolves around draining HP for the benefit of casting ridiculously damaging spells, it's a reasonably easy task just running around the battlefield, keeping out of trouble, and letting the Tank take all the hits. Blood Sacrifice allows players to keep their Tank healthy, whilst the buffs Spell Wish, Spell Might, and Blood Magic ensure the maximum amount of damage is always being dealt.
Blood Wound is also one of the most powerful effects in Dragon Age. Not only is it one of the best AoE effects, affecting enemies in a 10m sphere, but it has one of the most absurd costs to cast and cooldowns when compared to similar spells in the game. It isn't held back by friendly-fire, deals Spirit Damage (which most enemies aren't resistant to), and even has the added benefit of paralysing opponents in place.
For a build that is immensely scaleable and pretty jammy when it comes to its application, Blood Mages really do take some beating.
