5. Geometry Wars In Project Gotham Racing
Often when you discover a video game within a video game, it is an older title originally developed for inferior hardware that is relatively easy to port. However, in the case of Geometry Wars, the game which started out inside Project Gotham Racing 2, it has gone on to spawn sequels and a fanbase all of its own. Geometry Wars was originally designed as a way of testing the Xbox controller, but developers Bizarre Creations eventually decided to include it as a playable arcade cabinet in PGR2 and they were glad they did too. The game proved so popular that the standalone release of Geometry Wars held the record as the most downloaded Xbox Live game. The mini-game was also included in the next Project Gotham release, albeit with a slight revamp, and proves that you never know when a spin-off is going to prove more popular than the main game.
