10 Classic Video Games That DON'T Hold Up

10. GoldenEye 007

A game so good in its prime that it physically hurts us to put on this list, but unfortunately GoldenEye hasn’t aged all that well. Which is pretty fair enough given this one came out 25 years ago.

A large fault with how this one has aged is simply the graphical limitations of what was possible at the time. This is one of those games that if you grew up with it, it’s probably not going to bother you nearly as much but the combo of speeding through polygonal hallways, a low frame rate, and dated controls would make this one really tough to pick and play for the first time in 2022.

GoldenEye will always be iconic for the way it defined the FPS genre at the time and set the blueprint for what it could be, but you’d be forgiven for not wanting to re-adapt to the unusual mechanics and deal with the average AI which just doesn’t meet today’s standards.

In happy news, though, a clever group of people made GoldenEye: Source which is a total conversion mod for the game so just because the original hasn’t stood the test of time doesn’t mean the game’s magic isn’t still alive.
