10 Clone Video Games That Are Better Than The Original
4. Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor (Assassin's Creed)
Back when the first Middle-earth game just came out, it was quite popular to compare it to Assassin's Creed. People would refer to it as a Lord of the Rings clone of the Assassin series, but in reality, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its successor, Shadow of War, are so intricate that the comparison honestly makes Assassin's Creed look bad.
While Middle-earth emphasizes stealth and assassination as the core elements of its gameplay, it utilizes these features in a far more dynamic way than any mission in a typical Assassin's Creed game. Instead of pre-designed levels, the game uses its unique Nemesis System, which generates orcs with special personality traits and fighting styles that require you to think and adjust your strategy each time you come across a new rival.
Not to mention, assassination is only a small fragment of the system. In addition, who you assassinate and how you do it affects the in-tribe relations of the enemy orcs, how your own agents advance through their ranks, and finally, how the ongoing war with Sauron will fare in the long run.
This level of political intrigue is something you just can't get in Assassin's Creed. That, and banter-loving orcs.
