10 Completely Insane Video Game Details Nobody Noticed
5. The Bar's TV Is Showing The O.J. Simpson Chase - Duke Nukem 3D
Duke Nukem 3D is one of the most iconic and controversial FPS games of all time, yet amid the pushback against its ultra-violent content, most missed the weirdest flourish of all.
In the game's bar level, look up at the TV and you'll see a picture of a seemingly regular traffic report.
Look again, though, and you might notice that it looks more than a little familiar, because it's actually an image from the infamous 1994 O.J. Simpson car chase.
Duke Nukem 3D was released in January 1996, roughly 18 months after the chase took place, though given that Simpson's controversial "not guilty" verdict was rendered just three months before the game hit stores, the subject was absolutely still part of the public discourse.
Even so, you'd be forgiven for missing this entirely, especially if you're a younger player who wasn't even alive when the chase happened.
Curiously, it's not even the only reference to Simpson throughout the game, as billboards can be found in the game world bearing the words, "Guilty?" and "Innocent"?
