10 Console Exclusives That Desperately Need A PC Release

8. Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2 is synonymous with the survival horror genre, widely considered to be one of the most brilliant and thought-provoking horror masterpieces in the medium due to its now-iconic monster designs, psychological tricks, and twisted storytelling. Anyone who has played the original PlayStation 2 version released back in 2001 can easily see why. Someone who only played the "HD" re-release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 might not, and that's why this game is in such dire need of a PC port - it deserves a chance at redemption. The Silent Hill series has gotten a pretty terrible reputation in the West, with the only entry into the franchise on Steam being Silent Hill: Homecoming, a game which should not be representative of the once-revered gaming icon. The Silent Hill HD Collection is widely considered to be the most botched HD collections of all time, with critics citing its myriad of bugs and changes to the core experience - including alterations to the original script and a re-cast of the voice actors - as fatal flaws undermining one of the greatest games ever made. PC has seen its fair share of bad ports as well, especially from Japan. However, these can be rectified by the community in no time at all, as modder Durante has demonstrated. On PC, a shameful lack of developer support isn't necessarily cause to worry, because the community can do the job they're too cheap and/or lazy to do. If released on PC, Silent Hill 2 could be every bit as botched as the console collection, and it would still see relative stability by the end of the week.

Ken was born in 1994, and before the turn of the century, he was already a gamer for life, starting with Pokémon Blue Version. He has a passion for storytelling, especially in the gaming medium. Growing up on a healthy diet of JRPGs and point and click adventure games, young Kenny grew up playing Nintendo and Sony consoles, before becoming a snobby member of the PC Master Race. Nowadays, he resides in a time warp, refusing to believe the nineties ended as he fills up his Steam library with old point and clicks and cRPGs.
