10 Convoluted Video Game Levels Everyone Got Lost In
6. Lud's Gate - Tomb Raider III
Though none of the earlier Tomb Raider games were exactly a walk in the park, Tomb Raider III ramped up the difficulty to punishing levels with its more expansive maps designed to get the player killed and turned around as much as possible.
And though there are a few ripe contenders for the game's trickiest level, not one proves quite as enervating as London's Lud's Gate.
While all of the London levels offer up a high level of challenge, Lud's Gate is absolutely hateful in how much disdain it shows for players.
Far more than yet another Tomb Raider maze level, though, Lud's Gate is made immeasurably more difficult due to the generally dark colour palette making it tougher to tell paths and rooms apart.
This is before the game hurls Lara into an underwater labyrinth where you need to hit a number of switches while avoiding drowning and fending off attackers both human and animal.
There's absolutely no shame whatsoever in using a guide for this one, because it can otherwise suck up hours and hours of your life.
