10 CRAZIEST Things Nintendo Has Ever Done

5. Trying To Sell Zelda With Rap Songs

Rap is one of the most versatile musical genres out there, but only in the hands of people who know the ins and outs of it. Middle aged, white, commercial jingle writers in the eighties are not within this category.

There were multiple Zelda commercials made for each individual game back in the eighties, and every one of them had at least one attempt made to sell it via horribly written rap songs.

If you're familiar with rap to any degree, then you know what it sounds like when it's written by someone who had never actually written or sung a rap song in their life.

It's not like rap can't work in a setting like Hyrule, if Shinichiro Watanabe can put Hip Hop in feudal Japan, you can absolutely do it with Zelda. But like with all things, you technically CAN do something, but whether or not you SHOULD comes down to whether or not you actually know what you're doing.
