4. Pigskin 621 A.D.
Released in 1990 by Bally Midway, Pigskin 621 A.D. is a rugby/American football game like no other. The game has become famous for its collection of historically-themed characters and lack of restraint when it comes to them literally clashing against each other with Vikings, Knights and angry Celtic warriors all turning out for their teams in game.
And just like with a normal game of rugby or American football, the aim of the game here is essentially to score more touchdowns against either the AI or a fellow player through any means necessary.
These fields can quickly end up looking more like battlegrounds rather than pitches that have just witnessed a sports match up, with all manner of hazards ranging from bushes to logs littering the pitch and causing players to fumble the ball.
On top of this, Pigskin 621 A.D. actively encourages players to beat up one another and rewards those who can do the most damage. Hugely aggressive trolls can join up for a losing team and begin rampaging across the field, and there are a multitude of axes, maces and nooses that can act as weapons for players to beat and bludgeon their way through.
