7. Custer's Revenge (Atari 2600)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTx4yYKfruY Unlike later consoles, the Atari 2600, released in 1977, had no copy protection system. This led to a number of problems for Atari, namely: Rival companies like Coleco could make consoles compatible with 2600 games using off the shelf parts. Anyone could make games for the console regardless of quality. The second problem brought us Custer's Revenge. Released by Mystique in 1982, you play as famed 19th century U.S. Army General George Custer. Naked except for a scarf and a cowboy hat while sporting a comically gigantic erection, Custer must dodge arrows to get to the other side of the screen and copulate with a nude, buxom Native American woman. Well, sort of: The description on the back of the box makes it clear that you're raping her: "She's not about to take it lying down, by George!" Mystique, apparently being huge trolls, previewed the game for women's and Native American groups. The controversy led to the game selling much better than their previous "adult" titles, but the company didn't have a long shelf life since the home video game industry crashed the following year thanks in large part to the large quantity of terrible and often unlicensed games on the Atari 2600. Another company, Playaround, bought the rights to the games and re-released modified versions: Westward Ho, where the woman is beckoning Custer to make the act ostensibly consensual, and General Retreat, where the woman is pursuing Custer.
