10 Criminally Underrated PS4 & Xbox One Games You Must Play

9. Valkyria Chronicles 4

I'm a huge sucker for tactics games and an even bigger one for titles with unique visual flair, so I've been a staunch supporter of the Valkyria Chronicles series ever since its release in 2008. However when it comes to the title which offers the best this franchise has to offer it has to be VC4, which dropped in 2018 to a rather confused mainstream audience.

I'll be honest it's a hard sell when you tell someone that this game is World War II if it was an anime, and you'll see even more eyebrows raised when you show footage of water coloured painted tanks blasting the crap out of murderous child soldiers, but it's this sort of tonal whirlwind that makes this game so exceptional.

The core narrative focuses on a ragtag bunch of soldiers trying their best to push back an encroaching evil empire, who, in a bid to control the world are utilising a Valkrie, a being with unbelievable power which could be equated to them bringing a nuclear bomb to a battle.

The combat system is superb, the writing moving, and the characters you meet all memorable and rounded out. Balancing a team of specialists is challenging as each member comes with strengths and weaknesses, and it's only with a logical brain and a whole lot of guts that you'll make it through in one piece.
