10 Dark Souls Characters That Were In Multiple Video Games
9. Gwyn, Lord Of Cinder
The final boss of the first Dark Souls game, Gwyn linked the flame and is the Lord of Cinder.
At the very conclusion of the game, you face him the Kiln of the First Flame and after beating him, you make the final decision regarding what ending you want to choose. Walking away from the arena gives you the "Dark Lord" ending or touching the bonfire results in "Link the Fire".
While the fight can be difficult, it felt easier than expected to a lot of the player-base, maybe emphasising both how strong the player character had become or just how worn down and hollowed Gwyn had become since linking the fire.
The iconic battle and the sad theme that plays throughout are seared forever into any souls veteran's memory. Which is why, when the Soul Of Cinder, as the final boss in DS3 appears and his second phase starts playing Gwyn's theme and adopting a number of his moves, it may be nothing but fan service but it was well received by many.
The choice to include this throwback to the end of the first game at the end of what was expected to be the final Souls game felt fitting indeed.
