In 1981 in Portland, Oregon, a mysterious arcade game named Polybius started taking arcades by storm in multiple suburban towns. The game itself was very similar to video game classic Asteroids but with significantly improved graphics and game play. Like most new arcade games, Polybius grew in popularity but the gamers started complaining about headaches even after playing the game for a few minutes. To make things even stranger, men in black suits would regularly stand near the game and take note of any high scorers who topped the leader boards at the end of the day.

Weeks went by, and players were reported to be suffering from horrible side-effects such as amnesia, insomnia and in some instances suicide. Psychologists reckoned that the players had been exposed to subliminal messaging to an extreme degree, which was messing with their noggins. After a month, the Polybius machines were suddenly no longer to be found. The only evidence they ever existed is through a German company called Sinnesloeschen, who allegedly distributed those machines during the 80s. To add to the creepy factor, the translation for Sinnesloeschen is "sense deletion".
