Released on Steam in 2014, The Forest is an incredibly challenging survival game set on a heavily forested island. Within the game, Eric Leblanc and his son Timmy are the sole survivors of a plane crash and have to go full Bear Grylls in order to survive. After purchasing the game in 2016, a gamer named Martin was left horrified when he came across a bone-chilling coincidence.

After playing the game all day, Martin went to bed and woke up the next day to some truly startling news on his social media feed. It was the day of the tragic LaMia plane crashed that happened in Colombia (28th November 2016) which killed 71 of the 77 passengers on board. As odd as that coincidence was, Martin logged back onto The Forest and, with the recent news on his mind, checked the plane wreckage and came across the passenger list. What happened next, made him turn the game off forever: Martin's name was on that list.

A plane crash happening the same day as you purchase a game is creepy; but finding your name amongst the manifest? That's a bona fide recipe for the heebeegeebees.
