10 Deliberate Gameplay Features That Ruin Your Immersion
8. On-Disc DLC
Paid DLC is an industry staple these days. And that's fine, as expansion packs and story add-ons often feature some of the best content the game has to offer.
That being said, it's really NOT nice when said DLC is viewable on the game disc, but blocked by a price tag of real money or requiring an unforgivable grind that pressures players into taking the easy way out.
Surely, buying a physical copy of a game should mean you're now done paying and are free to enjoy it. But, as games like Rocket League and Mortal Kombat 11 show, there's always more stuff to invest in, be it costumes, abilities or whole new stages, and until you get your wallet out, pretty soon there's going to be more content you can't play than you can.
In general, DLC is a positive thing in gaming. But what you don't want is to feel like you've been cheated out of a portion of the base game, then have it dangled right in front of your face to tempt you into shelling out more money.
