Deadwight Wood is one of the eeriest locations in the Witcher 3, which is pretty impressive considering how many terrifying situations Geralt deals with on a regular daily basis.

The wood is home to all sorts of scary characters, such as foglets who hide in mists to strike unwary travelers or cannibals who eat whoever is unlucky enough to get lost in the forest.

However, none of these encounters are nearly as scary as the monster you can accidentally trigger to attack you if you wander into the wrong part of Deadwight Wood.

In the southern region of the forest, you can come across ruins of an old castle. The entrance to the old building is filled with warning signs, all of which speak of some kind of great danger lurking inside.

If you ignore the obviously creepy messages, as you venture deeper into the castle, you will be suddenly attacked by the aforementioned danger—a huge, terrifying, ancient leshen!

Because Deadwight Wood is in a relatively low-level area, being suddenly jumped by a high-level boss like Leshen (an ancient one at that) is a guaranteed heart attack.

As if the cursed forest needed to be scarier!
