Although the recent Rockstar games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V feature plenty of eerie references to the supernatural, like flying saucers and ghosts, Grand Theft Auto IV seems pretty much free of occult things.

In reality, however, the game does contain one unnatural thing on the world map, and it’s so shocking and out of place that it actually raises more questions than all the oddities of other Rockstar games combined.

The Statue of Happiness is the GTA world equivalent of New York City’s Statue of Liberty, located on the aptly named Happiness Island.

On the outside the statue looks like a caricature of the original structure, but you can also see it from the inside. And this is where things get weird.

As soon as you enter the statue’s interior, you will hear loud and clear sounds of a heartbeat that are coming from… well, a giant heart that is chained up to the top of the ceiling!

The heart seems to be very much alive and is huge enough to fit inside the statue. Why? How? Does it mean the metal colossus is actually alive?

Well, maybe some mysteries should remain unanswered…
