10 Essential Disney Video Games For Hardcore Fans
5. Toy Story
When Toy Story was released in 1995, it changed the way people enjoyed animated films, and while it wasn't the first movie to use CGI, it was the first fully-CGI feature film. The movie was so successful, there was little doubt video games would follow, and the fans weren't disappointed.
The movie tie-in game was released in the same year, and it came out on both the Nintendo and Sega systems. The game was an instant success, but not only because it was related to the movie — it was a great platformer featuring challenging levels and immersive gameplay.
In fact, the game was a perfect addition to the film, as the events that happened in the movie were there for the player to make their way through with only a few minor differences between the two. Toy Story is a platformer, but it plays just like the movie, and while it didn't look as visually stunning as the film, it came close enough for most players.
The Genesis version had one more level than the Super Nintendo and PC copies, while the Game Boy had only ten. These differences made the Genesis version a little better than the others, but not by a lot, so kids who played the game on whatever system they had at the time weren't left with an inferior title.
