10 EXACT Moments Video Games Gave Us The ICK

2. Ashley's "Ballistics" - Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 is an awesome game that for the most part gleefully embraces the fact it's basically a parody of a corny action movie - after all, you're inexplicably tasked with rescuing the U.S. President's daughter, Ashley Graham.

But the game does boast a few moments that don't really hold up to modern scrutiny, especially with regard to how it frames Ashley's presence.

And by far the most infamously sexist scene in the game occurs when Ashley is first introduced to former cop Luis Sera, who immediately devolves into the inane lech we've all met down the pub, saying within direct earshot of her, "Well, I see that the President's equipped his daughter with ballistics too."

As in, her boobs, get it?

Understandably Ashley isn't too happy about the comment, and while Luis' remark isn't exactly meant to be something the audience approves of, back in 2005 it was nevertheless presented as a harmlessly cheeky one-liner in step with the casual misogyny present in video games of the period.

It's enough to make anyone re-playing the game visibly wince, so it was a relief to learn that the recent VR port cut the line out entirely, and the upcoming remake changes the line to have Luis say, "Hey, I see you found your missing SeƱorita."
