10 Exceptional First-Person Shooter Games That Defined The Last 10 Years
7. Battlefield 3
There have been many incarnations of the Battlefield series, but the third installment is far and away the best so far. While the single campaign may be lacking, Battlefield 3 more then makes up for it with the cooperative missions that let you play with your buddies. Playing as a team is incredibly rewarding, as the decisions you make as a unit have a significant outcome on how the entire mission is played out. Being surrounded by beautiful scenery doesn't hurt either, as all the environments are visually stunning to look at. Another big addition to the series was the wide range of vehicles you can ride around in - it's just one more aspect of the game that puts it in elite company. The highlight of the game is the multi-player mode, of course: playing online is an absolute blast and it's genuinely something you never get tired of. The maps are rich and dense, offering a variety of options for all players of any skill set. Battlefield 3 may be considered a poor man's Call of Duty, but it does a good job of standing out on its on. Whether you're looking to have fun with your buddies, or just power through the campaign, I'd highly recommend it to any gamer out there.
