10 Failed Video Games That Had So Much More Potential

7. Beyond Good & Evil

Ubisoft, like all big names in the industry, have had some dramatic ups and downs over the years. There have been some great games in huge IPs, some equally solid original titles, some money-grubbing shenanigans and some horrible failures. It’s all part of life in the gaming industry.

One of their best and most underappreciated titles, however, was Beyond Good & Evil. This multiplatform release launched in 2003, a adventure title that cast you as reporter Jade, a member of a resistance group secretly investigating a conspiracy on a planet called Hillys (helped along by the likes of her porcine pal Pey'j, seen above in his incarnation from the upcoming Beyond Good & Evil 2).

She collects evidence as only investigative reporters do: using stealth to sneak around and thrusting her zoom lens in places people really don’t want zoom lenses to be thrust.

The game’s combat was a little simplistic, but it was super creative and told an engaging and poignant story that enchanted many who experienced it. Though a prequel is finally in the works, the original game didn’t get anywhere close to the sales it deserved, even though it was very well reviewed by a lot of critics.
