9. Halo Infinite's Battle Pass System

Halo, Microsoft's staple first person shooter franchise, usually can do no wrong. Admittedly, it has its wobbles, like out-of-timeline sequels, delays and studio changes, but mostly comes out relatively unscathed.

So it'd be fair to say that anticipation for the next generation Halo (yes, even after Craig the Brute's reveal) was high. Players wanted campaign! They wanted multiplayer! They wanted Forge to mess around in!

What they don't want, however, are season passes and unfair grind. But that's what Battle Passes are, and fans were not happy.

Tacking on a fee per Battle Pass and putting 300 hours into to unlock everything do not a fun experience make.

Halo used to be a simple affair, especially when it came to Blood Gulch. As generations expanded, so did the means to play it. LAN parties became Xbox Live hobbies, and so on.

But now we're in the century of the microtransaction, and Halo Infinite is no stranger to that either.

Reception to this system did not go down well, but the biggest "insult" to the fans? Two words: cat ears.
