10 Fanatical Gamers Who Took Their Obsession Way Too Far

1. American Man Kills Toddler Over Broken Console - Xbox

Perhaps one of the most shocking cases of video game fanatics taking things way too far is the case of American man Tyrone Spellman, in which an innocent life was taken in such violent manner few games would ever dare to depict. Spellman pummeled his 17-month-old daughter Alayiah Turman to death after the child knocked over his brother's Xbox whilse he was playing Ghost Recon. The autopsy revealed that the young girl had previously been abused in the home, including a broken arm two weeks before her death. Spellman said to the police, "The only reason I snapped 'cause I thought she broke my brother's $600 Xbox and I don't have any money to pay him back." Much like many of the other deaths in this list, Alayiah Turman's murder was both unnecessary and tragic. But it is a mistake to attribute this to the negative influence of video games - ultimately, the people on this list are responsible for their own actions and scapegoats - be it games or movies - avoid addressing the deep-rooted psychological conditions which lead to acts of violence.
