10 Fanboy Reasons To Be Excited About Hitman

3. You Can Save Anywhere

Another thing that was done away with in Absolution was the idea that players could save absolutely anywhere in a level. There was method behind the developer's madness here, because it encouraged people to be more careful. Knowing your last checkpoint was a long way back stopped sudden rushes of blood to the head. Sadly, it also stopped experimentation. Hitman has long been more of a trial and error experience than anything else, that's partly what makes it such a beloved series. Stripping away the save anywhere feature was a mistake, and it's one that's been brought back into the mix for the 2016 title. Now, things are a lot more open, and experimenting with different tactics is once again an overwhelming positive. Want to see what will happen if you decide to use that sniper rifle to gun down your target from across the street? Go for it, the world is yours to play with. If it goes horribly wrong and every guard in the level comes down on you like a ton of bricks, it doesn't matter. After all, you saved just seconds before the proverbial hit the fan. Try something else next time, now you know what won't work.
