8. Headcrab Zombies - Half Life 2

When you first encounter the creepy looking walkers in Half Life 2, it's a pretty unsettling moment; and then when there are a large number of the mutated baddies surrounding you, you have to seriously consider whether you're going to get out of the situation alive. And then you actually fight them, which proves all of your fears to be completely unfounded. The head crab zombies might look the part, but they lack any real menace; they're pretty simple to dodge, even in large numbers, and are easy to kill with even the lowliest weapon in the armoury, which makes the vast and colourful weapons available to the player something of an advantage against them. They're no more than a distraction to your progress through game areas, occasionally taking damage off you, but they feel too much like lemmings, especially in comparison with other zombies from games. It's just sad after a while.
