10 Features Of Valorant That Set It Apart From Counter-Strike

4. Defuse Half-Way Checkpoint

A neat mechanic that the developers have introduced is a half-way checkpoint when defusing the bomb. This means that once a player has reached that checkpoint, they can stop defusing in order to kill an enemy if necessary and then pick up right where they left off.

Not only does this mechanic make sense since there are no defuse kits in Valorant like in Counter-Strike, but it encourages players to 'fake' defuses. How do you fake a defuse? Well, a certain sound is heard when a player starts defusing the bomb and if there are enemies remaining, they can draw them out by triggering that sound in order to eliminate them. A half-way checkpoint is certainly a big help in such a situation.

Ever since I saw BJ grin as he picked up the chain gun in Wolfenstein 3D, I've been hooked on video games. My first love, however, was Counter-Strike 1.3 and I would beg my mom to take me to Internet cafés just so I could play it. The other two games that captured my heart were World of Warcraft and Quake, though I play all sorts of games (especially of the competitive multiplayer type). Oh, and I love dwarves and write fantasy stories about them in my free time.
