10 Final Levels That Ruined Great Video Games
1. Malachor V - Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II didn't live up to expectations, but was still a solid sequel in its own right. It offers a darker tone, new Force abilities, refined combat, and a more complex Light/Dark Side system.
But if there's any aspect that falters, it's the final conflict on Malachor V. Although other entries on this list were poorly designed, this world is flat-out unfinished, to the point where you can tell KOTOR II's development was rushed and chaotic.
Obsidian planned a far larger final act, including multiple locations, expanded dialogue, and more complex interactions with the remaining Jedi and Sith. To reach their deadline, the developers slashed a huge chunk in the eleventh hour, making the final section disappointingly brief and empty.
The brevity also prevents the story from resolving multiple character arcs. Some players felt cheated since the fate of multiple companions was left ambiguous and key subplots remained unanswered. Since the developers didn't have time to triple-check everything, a few glitches slipped through, so the finale isn't just underwhelming but buggy.
Whether you look at the last stage in terms of gameplay, narrative, or on a technical level, it's an absolute mess.
