There's a good chance you never heard of this psychological horror for the PS2, which did actually get a European and North American release, butwas bannedin several countries and is now one of the rarest, most valuable games for the console.

The censors' concerns were understandable, as Rule of Rosehints heavily at sexual abuse and underage eroticism. With that in mind, it's not easy to make a case for this game being a masterpiece, but look past the controversy storm and it's one of the most unsettling, ingenious horror games ever made.

You play asJennifer, a 19-year-old girl in 1930s England who finds herself marooned on an airship, and must gather giftsfor a creepy group of girls who torture herfor hertroubles. It's an incredibly haunting, unsettling talethat feels like abarrageof childhood bullying taken to horrific extremes.

Rule of Rose is, errr, wilted by its stiff, clunky gameplay, but tells a daring, disturbing story that's sure to leave a lasting impression.
