2. Castlevania
It's probably too much to hope for one of Konami's flagship franchises to return when the company themselves seem to be skipping out the industry door following a delist from the New York Stock Exchange and the seemingly endless attempts to kill both
Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hills - but you can hope. Mainly that shred of potential comes from the realisation that if the Japanese magnate are bowing out semi-gracefully, then all their IPs are going to be up for grabs, THQ-style. In terms of giant press announcements that's a perfect way to let someone like Sony or Microsoft announce they've secured a huge title like Castlevania as an exclusive for the PS4 or Xbox One - and considering how early things get announced these days, it starts to sound way more promising. Although the series abandoned its 2D side-scrolling roots and opted more for a third-person God of War-style hack n' slasher (complete with chain-whip) in Lords of Shadow it's always retained a huge following, with one of the most enjoyably ridiculous storylines since Metal Gear Solid and a roster of loveably badass characters to boot.
