10 GameCube Games We Need To See On Nintendo Switch

9. Sonic Adventure DX

3D Sonic games are a tricky proposition. Most of the releases have at least a few good ideas, and the sensation of running super fast is always fun, but they’re often bogged down with weirdness - lycanthropy, a strange character creation system, an overreliance on retro feels.

Sonic’s first true 3D adventure was no less quirky, but used it as a strength, not a weakness. Adventure DX was a sprawling, colourful, daft game, ramping up the usual “Robotnik takes over the world” storyline to include voyages into outer space, battles against shapeless blobs of pure malevolent energy, killer robots, and fishing. Quite a lot of fishing, actually.

Yes, those Big The Cat stages remain as dull as ever, but Sonic Adventure DX paced itself smartly. An angling detour, or some of the more frustrating treasure hunting levels, only made you more eager to slip back into those super trainers and dart around once again.

Adventure 2 is also a bonafide classic, and both are more than welcome to drop onto our online feeds. For sheer freshness, though, we’re plumping for the original.
