Its popularity has waned somewhat in recent years, but Angry Birds is still a huge global property. Between films, television, series, books and comics, there are a few mediums that the birds and their pig nemeses haven’t conquered, but their simple premise can be traced back to Yetisports, the original of which stands out above the many near-identical replicas that followed it in the timelessness stakes.

Targets to hit weren’t in the original game, but the simple art of hitting a penguin with a baseball bat at the right trajectory to get an optimal combination of speed and distance was oddly satisfying, with two swings rarely ever the same.

More often than not you’d screw up, hitting the penguin far into the air for a quick freefall or pummelling him straight into the ground, but getting it right and seeing the penguin glide for thousands of metres was oddly satisfying.

Much like Helicopter, Yetisports could be played for two minutes or two hours, allowing seamless switches between work and play with nothing lost and nobody any the wiser. The game can still be accessed (though the cutesy graphics are somewhat disturbing) through mobiles, but nothing will ever top the browser experience, which could entrance the immediate audience (usually just your IT work partner) if done right.
