10 Games Within Video Games You Must Play

1. Gwent - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Gwent the witcher card game
CD Projekt RED

Relying on the simple premise of mimicking the strategy of war, Gwent sees players place cards attributed with values and special powers into three different playing fields: Melee, Ranged and Siege. Being incredibly simple, the game can be played simply by hammering card after card, but if players invest time, learning the strategy to absolutely decimate your opponent beyond the scope of practicality can be even more rewarding.

Not to mention the innate completionists within all of us as the game hints at more cards across the world, starting your quest to collect every last one of them to be the best player going. The entire world could be going to end, with Ciri about to be gutted, but an innkeeper has a rare card, you know where your priorities lie!

Seriously, if the game was a little more realistic, we’d get a text box about half way through collecting the cards saying that we flubbed the entire story and everyone died, all because you wanted to find the Triss Merigold hero card.

That’s how good it is.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
