10 Gaming Boss Battles Ruined By RNG

7. Lou - Guitar Hero 3: Legends Of Rock

Guitar Hero 3 introduced boss battles to the hit rhythm game franchise, and at the end of the campaign players must do battle with none other than the devilish Lou - basically the series' version of Satan.

In the boss battles throughout the campaign, players duel against CPU guitarists, where power-ups are randomly doled out to be used against each other - such as flipping the note highway or obscuring parts of it - in an attempt to make them fail.

The Lou battle, set to The Charlie Daniels Band's "The Devil Went Down To Georgia," is so difficult it's often considered to be harder than even the most challenging songs the series has offered up.

This is largely due to the obnoxious, RNG-decided doling-out of power-ups, meaning the battle can swing violently in yours or Lou's favour on an absolute whim.

If you start off with one of the less-desirable power-ups, you're basically unable to win so may as well just restart.

True to the irritation factor of RNG, though, you can also end up with a fortunate luck of the draw if you receive strong power-ups while Lou is left with the dregs.
