10 Gaming Franchises That Desperately NEED A New Game
5. Knights Of The Old Republic
The first two Knights of the Old Republic games are some of the most beloved Star Wars games ever, the Old Republic MMORPG still has a passionate fanbase, and the Old Republic era in general is still extremely popular among Star Wars fans. However, the last KOTOR game was released in 2004 and there hasn't been another one since.
Following Disney's 2012 purchase of Lucasfilm, the KOTOR series was erased from the Star Wars timeline. Despite this, the series still maintains a strong presence in the hearts of many fans. Hasbro is even releasing a Black Series replica of Revan's lightsaber, which has raised some eyebrows.
Lucasfilm is looking towards the past for the future of the Star Wars franchise, as evidenced by their High Republic publishing initiative. They're also willing to reincorporate pieces of the old canon into new one, as shown by Thrawn's reemergence in a new book trilogy and Star Wars Rebels.
If Lucasfilm is willing to do that, why can't they do the same with the Old Republic era? A new RPG developed for modern hardware with a narrative tailored for the new timeline could be amazing and it's not an opportunity they should pass up.
