10 Gaming Villains We Were Emotionally-Invested In Defeating
10. Blue (Pokémon Red/Blue)
It might seem harsh to regard a ten year-old boy as a villain but Blue is your constant rival throughout the first Pokémon games and his arrogance alone will fuel your desire to crush him. Like his anime twin Gary Oak, he turns up throughout your adventures in Kanto to berate you before issuing an unavoidable challenge for a Pokémon battle, usually at very inconvenient times. Like every great villain, he never fully accepts defeat though and constantly comes back for more. Smell ya later, indeed. Even his own grandfather Professor Oak scolds him for mistreating Pokémon (no comments about the Raticate theories here, folks); Blue might be the first villain to ever receive a post-game spanking from a grandparent. Having to defeat the Elite Four before challenging Blue makes victory even sweeter too. Beating Blue in the final showdown might be one of gaming's most rewarding experiences; you and your Pokémon may have grown stronger over the course of the journey but there's still nothing like humiliating your rival and leaving him to be picked apart by his own family.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
