10 Garbage Games Everybody Bought Anyway

There are certain video games that don't need to be remade, regardless of their popularity and influence. Although Frogger dominated the arcade back in the early 1980s, its rudimentary gameplay was unlikely to entertain the masses in the '90s, especially when consoles had made the transition to 3D.

Nevertheless, Hasbro thought this was the perfect time to remake the traffic-hopping title for the PC and the PSOne. Even though the graphics were spruced up, the revamped Frogger was a disaster. Due to the extreme difficulty curve and unreasonable time restraints, players are required to memorise every vehicle's movement to survive, which is tedious and exhausting, especially with the shoddy controls.

But thanks to the nostalgic factor, Frogger managed to sell over three million copies on the PlayStation, and four million over all.

However, sentimentality wasn't the only factor that affected Frogger's sales. Several months after the atrocious reboot's debuted, Seinfeld released an episode called The Frogger, which centred around the classic arcade game. Being the biggest tv sitcom at the time, it's not hard to believe Seinfeld had an impact on Frogger's sales, especially since Hasbro increased production of the game just before the episode aired.
