The Walking Dead series by the now defunct Telltale Games was a ground-breaking property that turned Telltale into a highly popular development studio with ties to multiple TV shows, movies and franchises. While calling it a horror title might be a bit of a stretch, the dark and gory interactive drama was certainly brutal enough to qualify.

At the centre of the game was the relationship between Lee and Clementine, an older man and a child who attempt to survive the harsh reality of this zombie-infested world together. The journey they go on is filled with tension, action and adventure, and their relationship only grows to be more and more emotional, which makes this climax all the more tragic.

While the game focused on having multiple events dictate how the narrative unfolds, the ending will always play out the same, with Lee's final moments being utterly heart-breaking. After becoming infected, the player is given a choice to either ask Clementine to kill Lee or run away and let him turn.

The outcome is utterly gut-wrenching but was the perfect way for the game to end.
