Towards the end of Metal Gear Solid 1, it becomes increasingly obvious that Naomi Hunter is up to some shenanigans. She's evasive, seeming to blow off important parts about her past, all while being caught in numerous lies. In the final act of the game, the truth comes out that she is actually a sort of surrogate sister to Gray Fox, the man Snake kind of killed; twice. Worse yet, Naomi had modified the FoxDie virus in a way that would target Snake at some random moment. Yikes. Thanks to some stellar voice work from Jennifer Hale, you're able to feel equal parts sympathy and anger towards Naomi. Her willingness to completely cripple the mission is balanced with what seems to be regret, all of which is about getting revenge for her brother and even herself. Naomi is just one of the the many Metal Gear characters that have allegiances to multiple parties, but perhaps felt the most credible in her convictions, which made the twist all the more satisfying.
