Music: Aria Di Mezzo Carattere Forget Aeries' death, this is a heart-wrenching moment from the golden era of Japanese RPGs. There are quite a few different versions, in various languages, and although I'd imagine it's at its best in its native Japanese, I first experienced it on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, back when we all thought this was Final Fantasy 3. The piece is composed, quite beautifully, to mimic the voice of an opera singer, at a time when the technology simply wouldn't allow the real thing. This moment holds significance for the story and characters of Final Fantasy 6 and fans alike. It also forms part of a larger opera: Maria and Draco. As a track by itself, it may sound dated, but it's important to remember the evocative nature of music.
