Okay, so it could be argued that including Cthulhu in this list is cheating a little bit. After all, The Great Old One has been around for less than a century and was first introduced in a tale in a pulp magazine. Hardly the most auspicious start for a legendary creature.

Still, Cthulhu as a character presents all of the hallmarks of a mythological being and its power is such that it is always a noteworthy occasion whenever it does appear in a game.

Nowhere is this more true than in the wonderfully creative Super Scribblenauts. In a game that offers so many possibilities, it is perhaps unsurprising that Cthulhu is just one of the many beings that the player is capable of summoning. However, he is also the most memorable and players will soon find that many of the problems they face in the game can be solved with Cthulhu.

Especially when you figure out you can turn it purple and ride it like Cartman in Mysterion Rises.
