10 Greatest Video Game Collectables You Must Find
1. Memory Chips - Death Stranding
Hideo Kojima's shocking retirement from the Metal Gear franchise worried fans around the world that perhaps the acclaimed director was done making video games entirely. But Kojima took his departure in stride and went on to found his own development studio and, seemingly immediately, went to work on his next big project, which we now know as Death Stranding.
While the game itself is very Kojima in its almost nonsensical plot and weird product placement, the game came out with an overall mid-positive reception. Inside this game, one of the few collectibles that can be found throughout the broken United States are known as Memory Chips.
These memory chips are pieces of the world before the massive extinction event known as Death Stranding. These chips hold objects, movies, music, vehicles, figurines, and all sorts of other lore and useful items relating to the US of before. There are 56 Memory Chips inside Death Stranding, and collecting them not only gives the player a better understanding of what the world of the game used to be but also unlocks a lot of new vehicles to use in the game.
Collecting all 56 chips also leads to a hidden bunker where the player can learn more about Higgs, one of the villains of the game. The collectibles can be hard to find as they are just small glowing chips hidden throughout the vast world, but finding them gives plenty of rewards, and can help flesh out not only gameplay time but also the world Kojima put a lot of effort behind the building of.
