10 Hardest Bosses In Resident Evil History

6. Infected Bat - Resident Evil 0

Capcom tried to have their cake and eat it with Resident Evil 0. They kept the fires of classic Resident Evil burning, i.e tank-controls and fixed-camera angles, but also piled on a bunch of new mechanics that completely shook up the formula - most notably the ability to control two characters simultaneously.

The results are somewhat mixed and often hinder the experience, especially when it comes to boss fights, but none are as egregious as the dreaded Infected Bat.

Flying enemies had been around since the very first game and their increased maneuverability always felt at odds with the tank controls and this fight is the absolute peak of that tragic flaw. The highly mobile and erratic movements of the Infected Bat make it difficult to position yourself to attack, which either means you'll miss entirely or put yourself directly in its path of destruction.

Even when you do manage to find a stable position to unload your hot-lead fury, you'll be besieged by a swarm of smaller bats that will slowly whittle away at your health bar, which feels like an extra kick in the nethers on top of what is already a fairly generous nether-kicking, to begin with.
