Now, Cuphead's first boss can actually be one of two encounters, both of which are unlocked right away on Inkwell Isle I.

While they're surely the two easiest battles in the game, that's really more a testament to just how damn hard Cuphead truly is - these two are still mighty challenges by any conventional metric.

The choice is between The Root Pack and Goopy Le Grande.

The Root Pack is a trio of deranged root vegetables - a potato, onion, and carrot - who will fire projectiles at you.

Once you've got a few more boss fights under your belt this one certainly seems trivial, but it's still easy for new players acclimating to Cuphead's unconventional gameplay style and aesthetic to get caught unawares.

The second option is the incrementally more difficult Goopy Le Grande, a big blue ball of slime that will hop around the screen and attempt to both punch and crush you.

The three phases can certainly throw you off here if you're not paying close attention, and if you've not yet gotten used to the control scheme Goopy can make short and easy work of you.
