10 Heavily Rumoured Video Games We Want To See At E3 2019
5. Splinter Cell
The Splinter Cell franchise was once one of gaming's most popular and lucrative. After a couple of misguided entries, poor reveals and soft sales, the series went on something of a hiatus. Unfortunately the hiatus comes off the back of one of the series' best games, Blacklist, which was seemingly overlooked by most gamers in 2013.
In the six years since, fans of Sam Fisher's espionage-based antics have predicted each year that the franchise would return at Ubisoft's E3 conference. Obviously that hasn't happened yet, but the evidence continues to pile-up that this will indeed be the year we see the return of Sam Fisher.
Recently, Ubisoft Creative Director Julian Gerighty tweeted that he was working on a new Splinter Cell, and went as far as to even change his Twitter header to the series' iconic night-vision goggles. Of course, Ubisoft was quick to say the Tweet was just a drunken joke, but Gerighty's tease only laid more groundwork on top of pre-existing rumours, such as ex-Ubisoft head Jade Raymond stating that before she left in 2018 the team had been working on a concept for a new entry in the franchise.
It's not a matter of if Splinter Cell will return, but when. Here's hoping 2019 is the year it makes a comeback.
