10 Hidden Gem Star Wars Games You Need To Play

7. The New Droid Army

The only hand-held game on this list, The New Droid Army is another example of an ambitious game which attempts more than it perhaps should.

Here you will experience nuanced, direction-specific lightsaber attacks, a variety of Force powers to choose from, and an isometric camera angle.

With the addition of seemingly minor flourishes like deactivating your blade on the fly by simply pressing the Select button, The New Droid Army aims to pack as much onto the GBA cartridge as possible; a display of ambition worthy of Anakin Skywalker himself.

Okay, the graphics aren’t great, the levels can be long and quite repetitive, and the sound quality is inevitably a little thin. But the isometric viewpoint, the feel of deflecting laser blasts with Anakin’s blade, and the satisfying lightsaber duels with Dark Jedi and Count Dooku himself, make for a game much better than it should have been.

As with most on this list, the game was never going to be game of the year material, but as a Star Wars experience on a retro handheld, it can at times be impressive.

... Most impressive.
