4. The Arkham City Room - Batman: Arkham Asylum
While Batman: Arkham Asylum was still being finalised, RockSteady Studios were hoping the title would expand into a franchise. To entice players, lead narrative designer, Paul Crocker, inserted a secret room beside Warden Sharpe's office that teased a sequel.
By blowing up this office wall, you will discover a blueprint for Arkham City. This is a direct nod to the follow-up, Batman: Arkham City, where a section of Gotham has been sealed off after it's been turned into a reserve for criminals. Crocker assumed a random player would stumble upon this hidden room, causing the internet to work itself into a frenzy to try and learn the significance behind these blueprints. Rocksteady would then use this opportunity to officially announce the sequel.
But there was a problem. Because there is no conventional way to tell Sharpe's office harbours a secret area, nobody tried to blow up the wall. Even though millions of people played Arkham Asylum, nobody found this easy-to-miss enclave.
After six months, Rocksteady grew tired of waiting and said, "Screw it", and just told everyone online about the room's location.
