Red Faction: Guerrilla features a fantastic fan-serving Easter egg, whereby players are able to track down Parker, the protagonist of the original 2001 game, who is now an old man living in isolation on Mars.

Amusingly, Parker will rant and ramble on at the player if they stick around long enough, and one of his soundbytes provides a sly-but-vital sliver of foreshadowing for the next game in the series.

Reminiscing of his heroic past, Parker says, "Now back in the day, Mars had big oceans fulla monsters. We drove around in submarines and torpedoed them son-of-a-bitches. But you don't see monsters round these parts no more...'less you look real hard."

Guerrilla actually doesn't feature any monsters whatsoever, even though many fans at the time interpreted Parker's comment as a hint that the player could uncover a secret lair containing creatures.

But in actual fact, Parker was really hinting at the direction of the follow-up game, Red Faction: Armageddon, which re-introduced monsters as the grotesque alien creatures known as The Plague.
