10 Highest-Rated Video Games Of The Decade - Ranked Worst To Best
4. The Last Of Us
Metacritic: 95
If you need any indication of just how good this past decade has been for games, the fact The Last Of Us sits down in Metacritic's tenth is all the proof you need. Metacritic has the game just five points off perfection, down as the 54th best game of all time, and it still just barely cracks the top ten.
Coming at the height of the pop culture zombie craze, The Last Of Us follows several age old story tropes, yet manages to reinvent them. The zombie apocalypse, the immune saviour, the gruff older man and surrogate daughter... nothing in The Last Of Us screams originality, yet it managed to create a masterpiece from old scraps.
The storyline sinks its teeth into you, right from the off with Sarah’s fate, and it never lets go. A deeply affecting game which has stayed with us since its 2013 release, earning its spot as one of the decade’s best, and climbing higher than Metacritic's tenth spot here.
Next May, The Last Of Us: Part II will kick off the next decade, hoping to pick up where the last one left off. With any luck, in ten years time Part II will be on another list like this, maybe bumped up a few places.
